MVNU Strengthens Engineering Programs
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s already strong engineering program gets even stronger with the additions of Drs. Jose Oommen and Fei Xie as assistant professors of electrical engineering.
Dr. Xie has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., and an M.S. from the University of Southampton, England. He has published extensively in the areas of electrical and biomedical engineering. He most currently taught in the department of biomedical engineering at the University of North Texas.
Upon the hiring of these two new professors, Dr. David Che, engineering department chair, commented, “Drs. Oommen and Fei are a welcome addition to our engineering program. They bring valuable experience and a fresh perspective.”
As part of its continued growth, MVNU’s Engineering department will relocate to 104 S. Main St. in downtown Mount Vernon to the former Farley and Moore Antique Store that is currently under renovation. The building will also house Knox Labs, Inc., a community makerspace and is set to open in Fall 2018.
